About this event

Fermented Films and Queer Fear are joining forces for a Halloween charity spectacular - A Nightmare On Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge! We're screening this unintentional queer horror classic at Northern Monk Refectory's Chapter Hall. All proceeds will be donated to Mermaids UK, a charity that supports trans, non-binary and gender-diverse children, young people and their families.

Freddy's Revenge has everything you expect from an Elm Street: gorgeous shots, gruesome effects, gut-churning frights... but this time... it's gay! The man of your dreams is back and he needs a living host to wreak havoc in the real world. When high-schooler Jesse moves into Elm Street he becomes the perfect vessel for horror-icon Freddy's machinations, and he begins to experience terrifying nightmares and violent impulses. Now widely adopted by the queer community as an allegory for repressed homosexuality, the flick is famous for its overt homoerotic imagery and its themes of struggling with inner urges. A perfect blend of camp and silly, and dark and terrifying - join us to wash down this 80's classic with a delicious pint of Northern Monk, and try your luck at our raffle!

YOU ARE ALL MY CHILDREN NOW!
