Sustained pesticide use across our landscape in municipal areas, parks, schools, farms and gardens is contributing to a concerning loss of biodiversity, loss of soil fertility and there is increasing evidence that it is affecting human health as well.
We need to bring together everyone from across our community in East Devon to look at solutions for reducing and transitioning away from pesticide use which enables peoples livelihoods, not just to be maintained, but to improve.
In June A Pesticide-Free Devon Conference was organised in Newton Abbot with over 100 people attending and the Pesticide-Free Devon Network was set up (www.pesticidefreedevon.co.uk). Now we want to focus on a more local level to support positive and practical action to reduce pesticide use across East Devon.
The Pesticide-Free East Devon Gathering is an opportunity for people who are suportive of, and engaged, in pesticde-free and pesticide-reduction activities, to meet and begin prioritising what practical steps can be taken to reduce pesticide use across East Devon.
The event is being organised by Green Futures Devon CIC working with the Sid Valley Biodiversity Group, Pesticide-Free Honition and the Chardstock Eco-Group. We look forward to meeting you at Offwell Village Hall to learn more about what you're achieving and create an Action Plan for East Devon together.
