About this event

A Place at the Table is an opportunity to reflect upon racism and engage constructively with its surrounding issues in a safe space in Edinburgh. It is organised as part of Edinburgh City Mission's Nations ministry, which seeks to stimulate and strengthen ethnic minority and foreign-language Christian fellowships in Edinburgh.

Join us on Tuesday 30th August for an honest and insightful conversation with Axolile Qina, a South African PhD candidate currently living in Edinburgh. Axolile with be interviewed by Rev Andy Longwe, minister of London City Presbyterian Church, and will offer a thought-provoking perspective which is sure to leave you both challenged and encouraged. There will be space to ask questions and discuss some very important and timely topics.

A light lunch will be provided at the venue. Please arrive at 12.45pm if you would like lunch. Please also indicate that you would like lunch when you register for A Place at the Table, and if you have any dietary requirements.

Axolile Ntsika Mandaba Qina is a 3rd year PhD candidate in New Testament & Christian Origins at Edinburgh University and is funded by the Leverhulme Trust - Shaun Johnson Memorial Scholarships. He is a Mandela Rhodes scholar, and was elected as the first black African male President of the Student Representative Council (SRC) at Stellenbosch University. A South African born in the Transkei but raised in Johannesburg, Axolile lives in Edinburgh with his Italian wife Elena.
