A performance informed and inspired by the results of a public consultation: what does it mean to be Scottish/New Scottish today?
About this event
Over the course of the Being Human festival, we have been gathering public responses to the question of what being Scottish/New Scottish means today, and how this may be best expressed in a poetic national constitution.
Join us to mark St Andrew’s Day with the You Tube premiere of a play inspired and informed by these public responses. The performance will be followed by a discussion with the playwright Effie Samara and Alison Phipps, Professor of Languages and Intercultural Studies at the University of Glasgow and UNESCO Chair in Refugee Integration through Languages and the Arts.
Joining details will be sent on the afternoon of Monday 30 November.
This event is presented by the College of Arts at the University of Glasgow as part of the Being Human festival, the UK’s only national festival of the humanities, taking place 12–22 November. Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy. For further information please see beinghumanfestival.org.
We are also delighted to be working in partnership with the ESRC's Festival of the Social Sciences and UofG Gàidhlig on this project.
