Event description
Over 3 days, you'll practice a human-centred approach to creative problem-solving, focusing on the people we’re designing for

About this Event

We cannot solve today’s problems with the same thinking that created them. -Albert Einstein

Human-Centred Design is an approach to creative problem-solving that encourages a new way of thinking, one that focuses on the people we’re designing solutions for. When we understand what people want, the problems they face, and why, we can focus our creative problem-solving efforts on generating solutions that are valuable and relevant to them.

Introduction to Human-Centred Design (aka Design Thinking)

Over three interactive, online sessions taught across 3 consecutive days, you’ll learn about the mindset, methods and process of Human-Centred Design, also called Design Thinking. You’ll get hands-on experience with practical tools that you can use straight away to improve your innovation and creative problem-solving skills.

Using a practice scenario, we’ll guide you through the entire Design Thinking process: Understanding & Empathising with users, Defining the problem, Ideating potential solutions, Testing early ideas and Iterating to improve. The course is geared heavily toward practical application--you’ll spend most of the time working in small teams with people from different organisations. In the past we’ve had people from Google, Kimberly Clark, Waitrose, Slack, BT, J&J, Jaguar Land Rover and Aviva.

We’ll also run an online coaching session a few weeks after the course, where you can share what you’ve learned from applying the methods, hear how others have used them, and get expert guidance and advice.

Over three interactive, online sessions you will:

  • Learn about Design Thinking/Human-Centred Design (HCD) methods, mindset and process
  • Understand how HCD can improve your creative problem-solving skills
  • Get hands-on experience applying HCD to a practice scenario
  • And, following the course, you can join a coaching session (June 10th) to get expert guidance and support
