Everything you ever wanted to know about Parliament but were too afraid to ask. GCN have joined with the Houses of Parliament for this special event for government communicators, hosted at Portcullis House. This event introduces government communicators to Parliamentary process and follows the progress of legislation through both Houses, demonstrating how the public and interest groups engage with Parliament and can challenge legislation.
Speakers include Alex Aiken, Executive Director of Government Communication, Cabinet Office and head of the government communications profession and Richard Heaton, First Parliamentary Council and Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office who will discuss the Good Law Strategy. We will also be joined by a number of Parliamentary Clerks who will guide attendees through the process of Primary and Secondary legislation through both Houses of Parliament. They will also discuss pre and post legislative scrutiny of bills and how Parliament scrutinises the work of government departments through Parliamentary Questions and Select Committees.
