A Practical Introduction To Effective Meditation
Event Information
About this Event
I have enjoyed a meditation practice for the last thirty or more years and have recently qualified as a teacher of meditation. I am also a B.Ed (Hons) teacher in the wider education world.
Join me in a fun and healthy session for people new to meditation, who want to take their practice further, or for those looking for a refreshing approach to mindfulness and meditation.
You will need to bring a yoga mat, a cushion and a blanket as well as a bottle of water and wear comfortable, loose clothing
We will look at concentration, mindfulness and meditation. All slightly different slants on practice.
People learn how to meditate for many reasons. Maybe you are tired of feeling constantly driven, trapped, lost, unclear, confused, afraid, in pain? You might be tired of feeling helpless in the face of so much suffering, of ourselves and others? Before we take up meditation, we do not notice just how asleep we are most of the time. Meditation wakes us up to new possibilities for choosing how we experience our life.
As we practise meditation, more and more possibilities open up and more qualities emerge that we hardly knew were there. Creativity can be greatly enhanced. Learning how to meditate is a wonderful adventure in discovering that it is possible to appreciate, know, and understand our experience far more than we realised.
The session is held in my lovely light Victorian Art Studio. Room 103.
Come to the Gallery Hall Building, beyond Jester's Cafe through the car park to the left after entering the site. There is a buzzer with my name - we can let you in remotely. Please arrive after 10.15am and make your way upstairs to room 103. The buzzer may be deactivated after 10.30am in order to keep the room quiet (for obvious reasons) so please don't be late!
There are stairs up to the room - unfortunately our lift is not available on Sundays.
There is a small car park on site and parking in the roads around is free if you can't find a space.
Further sessions may be running in 2020 depending on interest in uptake here.
