Event description

Description

This interactive session explores the role of HR in encouraging a more proactive approach to how mental wellbeing is supported and managed in the workplace. It will offer the opportunity for HR professionals to discuss current issues surrounding mental wellbeing (broadly) and to hear from others on what their workplaces are doing well / not so well in this area. It will then move onto exploring practical ways that HR can promote more awareness of mental health in their organisation and highlight resources they can refer to in future.

Guest Speaker

Lisa Whittleton is Director at Illuminate VR Services Ltd. Illuminate supports organisations to better manage mental health and disability in the workplace leading to decreased absenteeism, higher productivity and lower staff turnover. Lisa has had an interest in mental health and the psychology of the mind for many years shaped by personal experiences growing up with close family / friends affected by mental ill health. She set up Illuminate in November 2013, recognising through her experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant and Trainer, that there is still a stigma surrounding mental health and disability.

Lisa delivers workshops to organisations on mental health awareness, disability awareness and resilience. She also supports individuals on a 1-1 basis who are struggling in work. This is through private work, and as an associate for government initiatives and insurance companies.

Lisa thoroughly enjoys building relationships with all her clients to understand their support needs; whether that be assisting a manager to have the confidence to speak to a member of their team about their mental health, promoting climates which encourage openness and disclosure, or empowering individuals to overcome complex barriers to sustaining work.

Lisa has worked with a wide range of private and public sector organisations including DWP, Help for Heroes, Remploy, Mind, Tesco, M&S and Santander. She is really pleased to be a preferred training provider for DHL Supply Chain providing UK wide support to their front line and senior management teams.

Outside of work Lisa is a true people person who loves socializing and networking. She is keen to speak at more local events to fulfil her mission to empower organisations and individuals to more effectively manage mental health and promote better awareness of mental health in the workplace generally
