Event description

Description

We are very pleased to welcome the Maryhill Integration Network as they stage an evening of events to help us celebrate our People Make Glasgow Week.

An evening of poetry, book and music. Join Maryhill Integration Network to hear about ‘The Sea of Paperwork’ book project, with readings by the young people, to hear poetry and watch ‘Under the Jasmine Tree’ animation and enjoy music.

The Sea of Paperwork book was developed in collaboration, through a series of workshops with young people from Knightswood Secondary school, St Fillans Primary School, Evergreen Outdoor Nursery, Dunard After School Care, Maryhill Integration Network and conFAB. It explores asylum issues and the reasons for it.

‘Under the Jasmine Tree’ was developed by Maryhill Integration Network, Media Co-Op, St Fillans Primary School, teachers Monica Cohen and Saffanna Aljbawi and MIN Development Officer Pinar

The film, animated by children attending St Fillans Primary School Migration After-School Club, received widespread media coverage, and is a powerful, moving film about escaping from Syria to Glasgow.
