Event description

Description

Join our Writer in Residence Molly Case, for a poetry writing workshop exploring the theme of ‘A Sense of Place.’ Using the familiar nursing assessment, ABCDE, we will use all our senses and skills in examination, Look, Listen and Feel, to bring to life homes we have known, places we have passed through and landscapes that mean something to us, taking time to craft them into poems.

This workshop is exclusively for RCN members (see below if you are not a member) and part of our Heritage Lottery Funded project to digitise the RCN's collection of First World War nursing diaries. Find out more about Molly's role as Writer in Residence on her blog.

Sessions are 2.5 hours. You can choose between a morning or afternoon session. Please note you will be required to enter your RCN membership number. This workshop is for all abilities and does not require previous poetry writing experience. All you need to do is come with some creativity and Molly will lead the way!

Not a member of the RCN? As well as nursing specific workshops, Molly will be running two more sessions open to the public:

Saturday 28 October 14:00 - 17:00 Drop-in workshop, as part of Up Close and Medical with London Museums of Health and Medicine. More information to come on this event focusing on the more surprising side of London’s medical history!

Saturday 18 November 10:30 - 16:30 Register for our family history workshop. Delve into your history and take part in a writing workshop for this day of exploring what family means to you.

Keep an eye on our eventbrite page and @RCNLibraries for event updates and booking.
