About this event

A Service of Thanksgiving for the life and work of Lindy, Marchioness of Dufferin & Ava will take place in St Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey on Friday 22nd October 2021 at 12 Noon.

Lindy Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, otherwise known as the Marchioness of Dufferin & Ava, was the daughter of financier Loel Guinness and his second wife, Lady Isabel Manners. Lindy was later to become a renowned artist and transformed the fortunes of the Clandeboye estate in Northern Ireland, producing the famous Clandeboye yoghurt, and creating a stunning breed of pedigree cows. A close friend of David Hockney, Lindy was to exhibit at glittering art shows in London, Paris, Belfast and Dublin.

Admission to the service is possible either by applying here and obtaining e-mail tickets OR you can alternatively apply by post. If you would like online tickets, just click on REGISTER above. You then just need to select one of two options: Family or Friends, which will help with seating on the day. You  can choose the number of tickets you would like, then click on CHECKOUT.  You have to give your name and the name of any guests you are registering on behalf of, and include an email address then click on COMPLETE REGISTRATION.

A link to ticket (s) then gets sent to the email address you have provided and in that link, are the tickets you have ordered. Please print out and bring the ticket (s) with you to the service. The Abbey doesn't share any data you leave with third parties. 

Tickets are also available by post: if you wish to apply by this method, post a letter enclosing a stamped addressed envelope to Mr M Arnoldi, Room 22, The Chapter Office, 20 Dean's Yard, London SW1P 3PA, and the Abbey can then send you back tickets before the service in the envelope you provide.

Social distancing and Sanitizer gel will be available in the church. The wearing of face masks in St Margaret's is optional.

Please note for security reasons, there will be a bag search before entering the church .

At St Margaret's, members of the congregation are requested to be seated by 11.45 am.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? Public transport is advised. The nearest underground stations are Westminster and St James' Park.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket(s) to the event? Yes, please bring tickets for each person attending.

What is the dress code? Lounge suit or day dress is advised. It is not necessary to wear dark colours, as the service will be a celebration of Lindy's life and work. The wearing of face masks is encouraged in the church.

What time do the doors open? 11.20 am.

Can I bring a guest? Yes, you can bring guests with you. Please just register your details and the details of any guests attending with you. You can apply for more tickets just by registering for others if you want to.

How long will the Service last? The Service will last an hour.

What if I have special needs? The church has easy ramped access for those in wheelchairs or with walking aids.
