A Service of Thanksgiving for the life and work of the Rt Hon Earl of Sandwich will be held in St Margaret's Church, Westminster on Tuesday 16th September 2025 at 12 Noon.

John Sandwich served in the House of Lords for almost 30 years, from 1995 to 2024. He dedicated his House of Lords working life to the causes of international human rights and development, world poverty reduction, the disenfranchised and particular issues that arose in certain countries, such as Sudan, India, Nepal, Kosovo and Afghanistan. He had previously worked full time in Christian Aid and part time for Care International and SCF.

He also worked in Dorset on the family land and housing stock, started the All Party Parliamentary Group on Prescribed Drug Dependence and, with his son Orlando, the fast food company, Earl of Sandwich sandwiches.

The service for John will be a chance to remember him both for his love of family and the causes that he held dear to him.
