Description


This 6 week course provides an introduction to three central problems of philosophy, examining original texts of three of the most influential philosophers of the Enlightenment: Descartes on 'Doubt', Locke on 'Identity' and Hume on 'Causality'. The course assumes no prior knowledge of philosophy.

One topic will be covered each fortnight, with a lecture on the topic the first week and a follow-up seminar on the lecture and the reading the second week. The live seminar will be moderated by the lecturer.
