A Tale of Two Cities: The Derby in Words & Song

This is the story of Hull’s two professional Rugby League clubs: Hull Kingston Rovers from the East and the docks and Hull FC from the West and the fishing community. This performance tells the story from the 1860s down to a date to be revealed.
Written by Rob Bell, the story is told by stand up historians Stan Haywood (HKR) and Mike Watts (Hull FC) with the Hillbilly Troupe and guest Sammy Lloyd, the Hull FC points machine, songster and yukele player. Barry Cundill and Sue Ireland will warm up the throng.
Hull FC legend Johnny Whiteley saw the first performance: “This is a dynamite tale told brilliantly. Come along and make this a night to remember!” Steve Hubbard, HKR all time team star, adds: “You will see Rugby League in a different way after this!” And Sammy LLoyd, star of the late 70s early 80s Hull FC team: "I've been to countless sporting dinners but this event looks at our game in a different way - you'll laugh, you'll be moved and the songs will have you up on your feet ..."
