An evening talk by 60 FT Dolls, Richard J. Parfitt at Newport museum and Art Gallery as part of the Newport Rock Collecting project.

About this Event

Richard J. Parfitt is a musician and writer born in Cwmbran but raised and schooled in Newport. A longtime supporter of the Welsh music scene and founder member of Newport ‘90s rock group 60ft Dolls, he has been working in education since 2008 and is currently Course Leader for Music at Hereford College of Arts. Richard was recently shortlisted for the New Welsh Review 2019 Rheidol Prize for his long read essay on the changing cultural zeitgeist of Newport. His interest in the town and how the wide sweep of history can affect the music made will be the subject of a public talk to be held at the Museum and Art Gallery: Tales From the Riverbank

Newport Rock Collecting is a social history and contemporary collecting project, created by Winding Snake Productions with support Newport Museum & Art Gallery. Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and First Campus at the University of South Wales.
