London’s art scene is one of the most vibrant and rich in the world. Attention-grabbing art fairs, high-end galleries and leading auction houses all place the city at the heart of the international art market, while a thriving museum scene continually reinterprets art history, with blockbuster exhibitions packed with sell-out crowds. The flip side of this heady mix is that London’s art world can often appear daunting to the outsider. Contemporary galleries can initially feel cold and unwelcoming, with complicated jargon creating a barrier to an appreciation of the art on show. The London Art Salon pulls down that barrier.
