"STUNNING" Slant Magazine on HOME
Following his worlwide hit debut, Home, ‘Earth from the Air’ photographer Yann Arthus Betrand revisits our incredible and fragile planet – this time foregrounding the wonders of the world’s fresh water sources and the ordinary heroes fighting to defend them.
Accounting for the food we eat and the clothes we wear, a European family of four consumes some 140,000 litres of water every week. This isn’t just the water that flows through Europe. It comes from developing countries that produce our coffee, jeans and cheap meat, where water is often scarce and, in the face of climate change, increasingly a cause of conflict. At the same time, these water sources are among the most beautiful natural wonders of the world – from the Congo basin to the Cambodian deltas. Viewed from surreal heights, and plunging to earth to meet the campaigners, entrepreneurs and women on the frontline, A Thirsty World is a beautiful, urgent call to everyday action.
Doors open 16:45; entrance is free.
