A Tribute to Textiles: Join Our Feminist Co-Curation Project
As part of Heritage Day, we’re celebrating the textile industry and the women whose labour and creativity shaped it. On September 20th from 11:00, the museum will host a unique, participatory installation co-curated with internationally renowned artist Lisl Ponger.
We invite you to bring along something that connects you to textiles (for example, a piece of fabric, clothing, thread, a thimble, sewing patterns, pins, needles, a photo or a memory) and become part of a collaborative artwork. Together, we’ll explore the intersections of craft, feminism and heritage, weaving your contributions with objects from the museum’s collection.
This co-curation project takes a commoning approach to curatorial practice, creating a space where personal stories and historic artefacts meet in dialogue. The installation will highlight the power of women’s craft as feminist art, both past and present.
Come, share and take part in this tribute to textiles and the women who worked with them.
All feminists welcome
