THE FIRST HALF OF TONIGHT'S GIG features Chris Lee's A Troubled Man, an atmospheric, jazz-infused portrait of Kurt Wallander, the detective from Henning Mankell’s acclaimed crime novels.

Ten evocative songs trace Wallander's professional and personal journey — from stake-outs, searches, danger and escape, to moments of longing, hope and vulnerability. The result is dark and atmospheric, filled with tension and flashes of lyrical beauty.

The songs take their musical inspiration from classic film scores of the 60s (Lalo Schifrin's Bullitt and Johnny Mandel's Point Blank), alongside the Nordic jazz of Jan Garbarek.

A Troubled Man was released on CD and digital in 2024 and received its launch at Crazy Coqs to a sold-out house.

THIS IS FOLLOWED IN THE SECOND HALF by a selection of Chris’s radical reworkings of 1960s classics, including songs by Lennon & McCartney, Jagger & Richards and Bob Dylan.

With Mark Jennett (vocals), Chris Lee (piano), Joe Pettitt (bass) and Rod Youngs (drums)
