Follow in the footsteps of Exmoor novelist and artist Hope Bourne on a guided walk around Withypool, taking in some of Hope's favourite views whilst learning more about her incredible life on Exmoor.
The walk will be led by Lisa Eden, an Exmoor Society Trustee who oversees the Hope Bourne Archive. As you journey around Withypool, Lisa will share some fascinating stories about Hope.
Hope Bourne (1918–2010) was a writer and artist who spent almost sixty years recording the landscape, wildlife, history and changing rural traditions of Exmoor. Discover more about her life in the exhibition A Life Outside: Hope Bourne on Exmoor at Somerset Rural Life Museum.
What To Know
- You will receive an email confirming a location meet up point close to the day of the walk
- This is a moderate 3 mile walk with some rough parts underfoot, and will be steep in places but without stiles
- Some parts of the walk are on public roads and so care is required
- Dogs are welcome to accompany you on leads
Refreshments are available in Withypool tea rooms or the Royal Oak pub.
The walk will begin at 10.00 am and finish at approximately 11.30 am.
