Event description

Description

Join PhD researcher and storyteller Erin Farley on a walking tour to discover how reading, writing and printing have shaped the history of Dundee through the libraries, collections, and literary societies hidden among its streets. Hear tales of the remarkable publishing history of the city, from broadsides to the Beano. Follow the stories of newspaper rivalries, struggling poets and ground-breaking novelists as the tour uncovers some of the characters who have been at the centre of events from the 18th century to the present day.

We will meet at 6pm at the Victoria Road entrance to Dundee Central Library (following an optional viewing of archive collections there). The walk will end at approximately 7.30pm at the University of Dundee on Perth Road. Please wear comfortable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing.

This event has been arranged to coincide with CILIP Library and Information History Group's 2017 conference, but is open to all. Click here for more details on the conference.
