Event description

Description

This walk will be perfect for those who want to go on a summer stroll in London – as most of the time we will be venturing through a riverside park and the banks of the River Thames

Famous the world over with its association with the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race, Putney and Fulham offers so much more in the way of history which very few people know much about.

Obviously, we will hear of some of the history of the Boat Race and its association with Putney, but the race also embodies its own brand of style and elitism. And this fits in with Putney which has attracted the rich and famous over the years.

We will see the Palace built for the Bishops of London as well as old medieval churches and almshouses.

And the history will encompass such a wide variety of figures from history and contemporary times such as Thomas Cromwell, Marc Bolan and Kermit the Frog!

The walk will be taking place on the day of the Prudential Ride 100 – a cycle race which does go through the area which will add to the enjoyment of the walk but will not impact on the streets which we will be visiting.

IMPORTANT: Attendance on any walk can only be guaranteed through pre-booking. If you cannot pre-book here but wish to attend, you are welcome to do so, but you must please give me prior notice of your intention to attend
