This session for governors and senior leadership explores the how creativity can be embedded across the whole curriculum/school.

About this event

This session is to delve deeper into why creativity is so important in the whole school environment to promote positive mental wealth, a greater sense of belonging and emotional safety for every stakeholder.

Key questions:

- What do we mean by emotional safety?

- Who feels emotionally safe in your school?

- Why do we need a creative approach to whole school wellbeing?

- How could this be developed in your school?

- Where do we go next?

Guests include:

Kathryn Webb is an Inclusion Adviser for the Barking and Dagenham School Improvement Partnership. She has twenty years’ experience working in schools, initially training within the field of fine art, then progressing to Special Education and SENCO within both mainstream and alternative provision for the last 17 years.

Kathryn has extensive experience of working with vulnerable children and schools specialising in Social and Emotional Mental Health, is a trainee counsellor and undertaking a masters in Mental Health.

Hannah Peaty is a Senior leader at Soho Parish Primary School as well as the Art Lead and Qualified Mindfulness Teacher. She has had her own mindfulness practice since 2012 and been teaching mindfulness in Schools since 2015. She is passionate about bringing mindfulness to young people to support their mental health and wellbeing, as well as combining art and mindfulness as a way for children to creatively engage with their experience. In this presentation she will give an overview of the approach she has taken and the impact that this has had, as well as introduce school leaders to how they can begin their own mindfulness journey in their own schools.

This session is a collaboration between Inspiring Futures, Creative Schools, and BDSIP.
