Description

The Event

We are excited to be holding the Women's Annual Conference at Ridgeway Community Church Wallingford where we are host to three speakers each focusing on this year's overarching theme:

A Women's Identity in Christ Changes Things.

  • What do you see when you look in the mirror?

  • It's not who you are that holds you back, it is who you think you are not....

  • What are our identity thieves

  • Practices to anchor your identity in Christ

Who is speaking?

Rev Helen Azer

Helen Azer

Helen was born in England but grew up in Egypt where she lived for the first sixteen years of her life. On a year abroad in Germany for her university degree course studying the history of the Reformation, Helen felt God’s call to full-time Christian ministry. She trained at Wycliffe Hall theological college, Oxford, and was ordained in 2004. Helen is called especially to train and equip the Church and desires to enable Christians to become radical lovers of Jesus who are informed, articulate and confident communicators of their faith.

Helen is the UK Director of Heartcry for Change and has been part of the itinerant ministry team for over ten years. Helen loves to read, travel and drink (good!) coffee while people watching! She is the co-author of Release My Frozen Assets: a look at the role of women in the church published by Heartcry for Change.

Meryl McKean

Meryl worked as a district nurse until 1999 when she left to study at All Nations Christian College. She has served God both abroad and at home. Married to Andy, she now lives with her family in Bedford and joined the staff of Three Rivers Church in 2013 as part of the leadership team.

She is also a facilitator for the Next Generation Impartation NGI course which seeks to train and equip young people to minister in Word and Spirit. She enjoys good food, walking, photography, has a passion for prayer and for seeing people transformed by the power of God.

Helena Harpham

Helena is currently a student at Oxford University, studying for a Masters Degree in Biochemistry. She runs the Christian Union in her college, organising evangelistic events and encouraging other Christians to be bold in their faith. Having grown up in Wallingford, she continues to be part of Ridgeway Community Church, where she has been able to develop her preaching skills.

Helena plays the flute and enjoys all forms of dance. Over the remainder of her degree, she is also keen to learn more from the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics (OCCA) about the conversation between science and the Christian faith.
