Event description
This is a 2-Part Workshop just for Parents or Carers. Dates: Wednesday 29th January AND Wednesday 5th February Time: 6:30pm-8pm

About this Event

Please note: As this is a 2-part workshop, registering for this course is to attend BOTH dates.

To attend, you MUST be a Parent or Carer of a young person (aged 11-25) who EITHER;

  • Lives in the London Borough of Merton or is registered to a Merton GP
  • Lives in the London Borough of Sutton or is a registered to a Sutton GP.

As well as offering a supportive space for parents/carers, the main aims of this workshop are to:

  • Understand what self-harm is
  • Explore the reasons why people self-harm
  • Discuss some common myths and misconceptions about self-harm
  • Look at coping strategies and ways to support yourself and your young person.

Support from Off the Record is primarily for young people; however, from time to time we offer support to parents or carers in the form of groups or workshops.

The work we do with young people is completely separate and confidential.

In Merton, young people aged 11-25 can access emotional support ranging from one-off support through our walk-in counselling sessions and outreach work through to our ongoing support through individual online counselling and face-to-face counselling.

Young people (aged 11-25 who live in Merton or are registered with a Merton GP) can refer themselves by contacting us directly on 020 3984 4004 or emailing us at merton@talkofftherecord.org. Young people (aged 11-17) can also be referred to us through Merton CAMHS SPA (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services, Single Point of Access) and from GPs, schools and other professionals.
