We live in a capitalist world and we are all by default capitalists.
Ever growing numbers of us are self-employed, forced to make businesses out of ourselves and our engagement with social media can be viewed from a far as a giant rat race where we all compete amongst ourselves to create the perfect online life.
Thankfully we no longer live in a time when pundits and statesmen can declare there is no alternative and that history has ended but many battles lay ahead.
Increasing income inequality, automation and environmental destruction have put the long term viability of capitalism more in question than ever.
With this in mind consented.co.uk brings you A World Beyond Capitalism, a day exploring how society can move past its current ideological hegemony.
The day will consist of workshops and discussions exploring how capitalism emerged, why we need change, an exploration of a world without work and a closing panel on how we can move beyond this current system.
Date and location: 20th November, SOAS from 1pm - 5pm.
Speakers include: Dr Oscar Guardiola-Riveria (author of What if Latin America Ruled the World), Ray Filar (Editor of Resist!), Ash Sakar (Novara Media), Dr Aaron Bastani (Novara Media), Dr Margarita Aragon (Birkbeck), Kam Sandhu (Real Media), Kojo Koram (Essex University), Richard Seymour (Author of Corbyn: The Strange Rebirth of Radical Politics).
