"For me Deep Listening is a life time practice. The more I listen the more I learn to listen. Deep Listening involves going below the surface of what is heard.”

Pauline Oliveros

On the evening of October 24th Deep Listening facilitator Susanne Olbrich joins the Glasgow branch of Contemporary Music for All in a book launch for the Centre for Deep Listening's book 'A Year Of Deep Listening' celebrating the legacy of composer Pauline Oliveros. The book contains one text score for every day of the year and explores the full breadth of the practices that Pauline developed.

Deep Listening supports creativity in art and life, plus it’s a lot of fun. It is for musicians as well as for participants from other disciplines and interests. Everyone with an interest in sounds and silence, relaxation, exploration and play is welcome.

For this launch, we will have a presentation from Susanne on Pauline's work, the ongoing legacy of Deep Listening, and her own journey with the practice. This will be followed by a Q&A, and then a short practical workshop before finishing up for our full-day workshop the next day. Copies of the book will be available for perusal and purchase throughout the event.

Notes:

Teas, juice, and other light refreshments will be provided with vegan and gluten-free options available. Let us know via email at glasgow@coma.org if you have any additional dietary requirements

The venue is wheelchair accessible. There will not be a sign language translator.
