Description

The gut microbiome is an important and emerging discussion topic amongst healthcare professionals. This event will provide an understanding of the gut microbiome, in particular, to gut development and how this impacts long term health outcomes. Professor Glenn Gibson is an expert in this field of gut microbiology and co-instigated the concept of prebiotics in 1995.

Glenn Gibson, Professor of food microbiology, Reading University

Glenn Gibson was at the forefront of developing early thinking on prebiotics, co-instigating the concept in a 1995 paper. Since then, he has continued to be involved in the field of human gut bacteriology, sitting on 5 advisory panels and publishing more than 480 research articles, 100 patents, and 8 books on the topic. He is the former President of International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics and has led more than 120 research projects, as well as supervising over 70 PhD students.
