Mae’r cwrs byr yma’n cefnogi athrawon sy’n meddwl ynghylch sut i gorffori a chynnwys celfyddyd gyfoes yn y maes llafur ac yn yr ystafell ddosbarth. Bydd y sesiynau hyn yn dilyn cyrchddull ymarferol o ran dod â chelfyddyd gyfoes i gynlluniau gwaith, sut i ddechrau edrych ar arddangosfa a lle i ymchwilio ac ehangu gwybodaeth ynghlwm â chelfyddyd gyfoes. Bydd y sesiynau ill tair yn rhoi lle i’r cyfranwyr glywed artistiaid cyfoes sydd â’u cartref yng Nghymru yn sôn am eu harfer, edrych ar arddangosfa o gelfyddyd gyfoes yn ogystal â chyngor ymarferol y gall y cyfranwyr fynd ag ef i’w canlyn a’i ddefnyddio yn yr ystafell ddosbarth. Bydd y sesiynau hyn yn gymorth i greu rhwydwaith rhwng artistiaid, athrawon a chyrff diwylliannol yn y ddinas.

Sesiwn ymarferol yn Amgueddfa Genedlaethol Caerdydd gyda phobl broffesiynol yr oriel i drafod themâu mewn celfyddyd gyfoes, sut i fynd o’i chwmpas hi o ran dechrau ymhél â chelfyddyd a rhoi lle i ddysgwyr fynd yn eu blaenau â’u hymchwil eu hunain. Mynd i arddangosfa Artes Mundi, clywed artistiaid yn sôn am eu gwaith yn ogystal â sesiwn gweithdy ymarferol fydd yn bwydo’r sesiwn yma.

Cyfle i wrando ar artistiaid yn trafod eu gwaith a sesiwn weithdy ymarferol ar sut y gall athrawon drafod cyrchddulliau cynnwys celfyddydau gweledol yn eu hamgylchfydoedd dysgu. Byddwn yn gweithio gyda chynlluniau gwaith yn fan cychwyn trafod. D.S. cymhellir athrawon i ddod ag enghraifft o gynllun gwaith i’r sesiwn yma. Mae yna gyfle hefyd i gyfarfod staff oriel Chapter.

Developing Contemporary Art study in the classroom

For primary and secondary teachers

A three-day course:

11 January 2019 Artes Mundi, National Museum Cardiff

8 March 2019 g39, Cardiff

24 May 2019 Chapter, Cardiff


This short course supports teachers thinking around how to incorporate and include contemporary art within the syllabus and the classroom. These sessions will take a practical approach to bringing contemporary art into schemes of work, how to begin looking at an exhibition and where to research and broaden knowledge around contemporary art. All three sessions will enable participants to hear contemporary artists based in Wales talk about their practice, look at an exhibition of contemporary art as well as practical advice that participants can take away and use in the classroom. These sessions will help create a network between artists, teachers and cultural organisations in the city.



Friday 11th January: Approaches to looking at art

Location: National Museum, Cardiff

With gallery educators and artists: Thomas Williams and Amy Treharne.

A practical session at the National Museum Cardiff with gallery professionals to discuss themes within contemporary art, how to approach engaging with art and enable learners to continue their own research. This session will be informed by attending Artes Mundi exhibition, hearing artists talk about their work as well as a practical workshop session.

Friday 8th March: Research and knowledge sharing

Location: g39, Cardiff.

With artist: Freya Dooley, and curator: Louise Hobson

A practical session around where and how to research and broaden knowledge around contemporary art using online researches and pooling resources. This session will also include the opportunity to hear artist and curator talk about their work as well as the chance to see the Jerwood exhibition and meet g39 staff.

Friday 24th May: Bringing contemporary art into schemes of work

Location: Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff

With artists Anthony Shapland and Gweni Llwyd.

An opportunity to listen to artists discuss their work and a practical workshop session on how teachers can discuss approaches to including visual arts into their learning environments. We will be working with schemes of work as a starting point for discussion. N.B. teachers are encouraged to bring an example of a scheme of work to this session. There is also the opportunity to meet the Chapter gallery staff.
