About this event

About the Conference

A4ID's two-day Annual Conference will be held virtually on 25-26 June 2021 and will include panels, workshops, and networking sessions. In its inaugural edition, the A4ID Annual Conference will explore the current trends and themes at the juncture of rule of law, pro bono and international development. The two-day conference will focus on the substance, practice and processes of international pro bono technical assistance, with a particular focus on UK practitioners and lessons from other geographical areas.

This year, the theme of the Conference, “Towards a more just post-pandemic world”, will focus on ideas emerging from the COVID 19 pandemic and the responses from the rule of law and pro bono space. We look forward to bringing together practitioners from the legal, development, academic and corporate sectors, and others, for an engaging dialogue on the future of pro bono in furthering the rule of law, particularly in the context of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Organiser A4ID

Organiser of A4ID Annual Conference 2021

Advocates for International Development (A4ID) is a global charity that believes the law can, and should, be used more effectively to eradicate global poverty.

Around the world, development organisations work tirelessly to improve access to basic services for the poorest people and empower local communities to tackle poverty.

But we have seen that very often a lack of access to legal expertise can reduce the impact of these organisations.

We also know that in many instances the law itself can act as a barrier to sustainable international development.

It is our role to ensure that legal support is available for all those involved in the fight against poverty and that lawyers and development organisations have the skills and knowledge to use the law as an effective development tool.
