Event description

We are very fortunate to have two main eminent guest speakers that are husband & wife.

Chris.Chun & Rennie.Chun from Dallas,Texas, USA.

Home Group: The Unfortunaes Group

Seminar Details:

I. The purpose of this seminar is to meet individuals where they are regarding understanding the Three Legacies of Unity, Recovery, and Service. The scope of the workshop is 12 Traditions, 12 Steps, and 12 Concepts. Its objective is to dispel the misunderstandings and ignorance regarding the Three Legacies and how they operate individually and collectively. This will be achieved through the use of two methods in the workshop:
1. Co-Chaired Sessions – Chris C. and Rennie C. of the Unfortunates Group of Alcoholics Anonymous we will be facilitating the discussions.
2. Audience Participation – During portions of the workshop, participants will be asked to contribute experiences relating to the workshop topic.
II. Formatting for each method:
1. Co-Chaired Sessions –
(a) The Three Legacies will be presented in a linear fashion beginning with Unity and discussing the 12 Traditions, the Recovery and the 12 Steps, and finally Service and the 12 Concepts. The material being covered will the origin of the 12 Traditions which are the Grapevine articles the 12 Points to Assure Our Future, the book Alcoholics Anonymous for the 12 Steps, and for the Service Manual for combined with the 12 Concepts. All Three Legacies and the 36 spiritual principles will be reviewed and discussed individually and explained how they work as a whole.
(b) Questions regarding the information being reviewed are more than welcomed and are actually encouraged to ensure the information is thoroughly covered. The Unfortunates requests that any comments be framed into the form of a question. Questions are limited to the scope and objective topic being discussed. Co-Chairs may terminate questions of an inappropriate nature. This is not an act of censorship. It is an effort to keep the workshop focused on the scope and objective.
2. Audience Participation –
(a) Participants will be asked to write experiences which will be used to demonstrate what the Three Legacies are actually used for.
(b) Moments of the workshop will consist of participants presenting their experience before the group. This will not be a requirement for anyone in attendance. Participation is purely voluntary.

III. Workshop Overview

The first portion of the workshop would be an overview of the Three Legacies Unity, Recovery, and Service and how they work in conjunction with one another.

The second part of the workshop will be a deep dive into each utilizing the appropriate A.A. literature.

The last part will be a practical application session and will utilize actual situations participants encounter and how to apply one or a combination of the principles to guide a decision.

Many believe these workshops are boring lectures… many are. Members of The Unfortunates have personally attended many that were a waste of time where the whole workshop consisted of people reading word for word from literature that could have been read on your own. The Unfortunates have been taught by Three Legacy tacticians on how to have great excitement not only for ourselves but how to transmit this passion for Unity, Recovery, and Service to others. This is a really engaging and fun way to learn about the very Principles that are supposed to unite AA but are now considered mysterious ancient doctrine from old AA. Finally, the more newcomers who attend the better. Having testimony from people who have just walked in and share their AA experience is the best view to use as a compass.
