Summary:

This session aims to empower SLTs working with adults and provides you with a range of skills to add to your ‘AAC toolkit.’

You will take a way a copy of the presentation with the aim of disseminating this to your colleagues via a training session within your own team, so they can be empowered too!

Aims:

  • To provide an overview of both low tech and high tech AAC.

  • To explain the range of access options for AAC (both low tech and high tech)

  • To guide participants in assessing for AAC needs.

  • To empower participants to support individuals using aided communication.

General - These sessions are aimed at those who may work with AAC/EC on an occasional or even regular basis and have a reasonable awareness and understanding of AAC/EC assessment and technology (e.g. Specialist school therapists, teachers, adult community therapists) Some prior knowledge of AAC terminology is assumed but a glossary of terms and background information will be provided before the session.
