Abbey House Manor Garden Open Days 2022 - Follow the Journey
About this event
Kim and Whit Hanks, owners of Abbey House Manor and The Old Bell Hotel, both in Malmesbury are re-opening Abbey House Manor gardens for the 2022 season. With over 1000 years of history the gardens have fascinating stories to tell. Book your ticket and be part of the next chapter!
For 2022, all ticket proceeds go to Malmesbury groups and charities via Malmesbury Carnival.
What to Expect
Visitors can expect to see something new at each Open Day, with behind-the-scenes snippets from our volunteer guides. As we reimagine the gardens, bold decisions are being made to rejuvenate key areas. You will discover removal of plantings and hedges that have run their course. This is a much loved garden which is in a season of replanting and you will learn the methodology behind this approach when you visit.
The Team
We’re lucky to have a fantastic team of skilled and experienced gardeners led by Head Gardener, Freya Langford, formerly of BBC Gardeners' World and an RHS award winning garden designer.
How to Book
Tickets cost £5 (+ 98p booking fee) with all proceeds to Malmesbury groups and charities.
Children under 12 can visit for free
Abbey Manor House
The grade 1 listed house which dates from the 16th century, with 13th century foundations is not currently open. Over the next couple of years, Kim and Whit plan to lovingly restore the house into a luxury hotel subject to receiving permissions.
Refreshments
There are no on-site refreshments or picnic facilities this season, but you'll find plenty of independent cafes, restaurants and pubs right next to the gardens in Malmesbury. You might even want to reserve a delicious Afternoon Tea at our very own The Old Bell Hotel next door.
The Old Bell Hotel
Rumoured to be England’s oldest hotel, with high design interiors and quirky treasures from around the globe, the hotel has 34 uniquely designed bedrooms, beautiful lounges, and delicious food, drink, and cocktails in the Saints & Sinners Restaurant and 1220 Bar. Plus, a new outdoor Tyger Bar opening Spring 2022. www.oldbellhotel.co.uk
