About this event
What is a project swap?
Our regular project swap is a space where you can bring an issue, idea, project or problem and swap with a partner in the room to give each other new perspective, ideas and support - through guided questions and ideation time. Organising is full of experiments and ideas but sometimes we need a bit of support to get different perspectives and ideas on our work. Together, we can encourage each other to get experimental and be bold with our ideas and organising.
Examples of what you might bring include:
- I want to engage with my local community on housing rights
- How can I help those I organise with take more time for care and rest?
- I'm thinking about how to tell stories with those involved in my campaign
Who is running this?
Act Build Change is an online learning community and community organising school. Our mission is to make community organising accessible to all and build a network of leaders committed to justice. We teach people how to build power and relationships; the fundamentals of community organising. We show how to do this sustainably, through collective care support and do this through our website, videos and workshops. Find out more about our work and sign up to hear about future events here.
This session will be hosted by Edi, Act Build Change’s Digital Organiser. Edi (they/them) is passionate about the relationship between movements, learning and archives. They're responsible for connecting, supporting and championing Act Build Change’s members and wider learning community.
All ABC sessions are ‘pay what you can’, and free for those who are not able to afford a donation. Our speakers are all paid, donations enable us to add more to our pot to put on workshops and events like this and continue to pay future facilitators and speakers. If you would like to donate we recommend £7-10 to attend this session.
How do I join + take part?
We’ll be hosting this meet up on the audio visual meeting platform Zoom. You’ll be able to access this event via your Eventbrite dashboard and we’ll send out a link on the day via email too.
We work to ensure that our spaces are as inclusive and accessible as possible but we know that we may not be aware of all access needs and support that those who want to attend will require. This event will have:
- Closed captions
- Scheduled breaks
- Plans available for anyone who needs them in advance
- All resources sent out to participants following the event
Should there be anything you need to support your to be able to participate well, please let us know when prompted to during registration. This includes but is not limited to language, comfort, access (physical, emotional, technological).
If you need any support getting set up on Zoom, are unable to register for a ticket via this site or have questions about accessibility or joining this event, please email Edi: edith@actbuildchange.com
Our spaces are not open to those who represent or are serving in institutions that disportionately harm marginalised communities, including the police, prison service, armed forces and the home office. This is because we work to centre the experiences of those who experience (multiple) oppressions including racism, (dis)ableism, classism, transphobia, homophobia, Islamophobia and antisemitism. By centering these experiences our spaces become safer, and more caring and accessible for everyone.
