This event is to explore Asset Based Community Development approach grounded in the people, buildings, resources, attitudes that already exist in communities.

It will build on the work Locality have undertaken with Calderdale Council on Community Asset Transfer and nationally with Community Organising.

13.30 – 15:00 Alphabet Cafe

The Alphabet Café is a structured session in which groups of people discuss a topic at several tables, with individuals switching tables after half an hour and getting introduced to the previous discussion at their new table by a "table host". As well as speaking and listening, individuals will be encouraged to write or doodle on the paper tablecloth so that when people change to different tables, they can see what previous members have expressed in their own words as well as hearing the table host's view of what has been happening. At the end each table will feedback the flavour of conversations
