Abdominal Pain is Common! This course gives you the knowledge required to approach people with abdominal pain with confidence!
The causes of abdominal pain range from the immediately life threatening through a spectrum of chronic evolving conditions to the benign. The difficulty for clinicians is correctly identifying which patient is which!
After completing this course you will be able to:
- Describe a structured system through which the assessment of abdominal pain can be undertaken
- Hold a sound knowledge of the core disease processes which present with abdominal pain
- Relate clinically presented signs, symptoms and examination findings to the underpinning anatomy & pathophysiology in an integrated way
- Identify serious yet unusual causes of abdominal pain that should not be missed
The abdomen is a challenging domain to work with! The sheer number of organs, differing anatomy, along with the diverse range of pathologies that can occur make the diagnosis of abdominal pain bewildering. Using a deductive approach this practically focused course uses clinical case presentations to guide your learning, making it relevant for "Real World" practice no matter which setting you work in.Clinical cases act as triggers for learning the relevant knowledge needed to understand the symptomology of abdominal pain.
