Aber LibTeachMeet 2016 (Sponsored by the CILIP Information Literacy Group)
Event Information
Description
What is it about and why should I attend?
Employability is a key element for librarians working across all sectors, and is growing in importance especially for universities. Libraries can be the gateway to learning information literacy and skills that are invaluable to employers.
This LibTeachMeet has these key aims;
- To bring together library staff from across sectors to explore the theme of employability and their roles in it.
- To encourage the sharing of methods, new ideas and innovative approaches to library’s role in improving users employability
- To explore the link between the skills libraries provide and employability
We are providing tea and coffee on arrival, and lunch although if you need extra caffeine fixes, there is a cafe just downstairs. If you have any dietary requirements (Vegetarian, allergies etc) please let us know.
Who can attend?
This event is open to anyone working in libraries in any sector, and to any Library and Information students, who are interested in the role libraries play in employment.
We will have tickets for those wanting to present/talk for 15 minutes, and everyone attending is encouraged to bring along an issue, theme or question to discuss or speak, especially any innovative or new ways your library engages with the employability of its users.
- Which skills you provide/or think should be provided that contribute to employability?
- How do you provide these skills?
- The relationship between Information Literacy and Employability
