On Saturday 29th October, a spectacular Anglo-Saxon themed torchlit procession with create a river of fire as it winds through the streets of Aberlady. The procession will be followed by an Anglo-Saxon Feast and entertainments at Kirk Stables with a hog roast, music and storytelling. This will be a fantastic way to celebrate our Aberlady Angles project
It’s sometimes said that there is not much to do at this time of year in Aberlady and we want to change that. Our ambition is to make this procession an annual event, which will hopefully grow in future years and enhance the community we live in. So carry a torch, have a look at our costume ideas leaflet for inspiration, get into the spirit and come in costume.
You may begin assembling to collect your torch from 16:30 at the Aberlady Playing fields and our procession will start at 17:00. The route will take us to the Kirk Stables where we will arrive at 17:30.
Our feast will begin at 17:30 time at the Kirk Stables, with opening remakrs and speeches celebrating the fantastic success of Aberlady Angles beginning at 17:45. We are privileged to have live music from children who have taken part in workshops with Lamp House Music, and they will be performing original songs written by themselves inspired by the themes of Anglo-Saxon epic poetry. Catering will be available on a first come, first served basis.
