Abortion and Empire in a New Ireland
Event Information
About this Event
The news is clear: Ireland has a new relationship with abortion. Campaigners have made huge gains on both sides of the border when it comes to the legal right to an abortion. But what does that "right" actually mean? How soon will people reliably get abortions? How has European statecraft and imperialism shaped the island's abortion landscape in the first place? And how will its legal institutions, as well as a global cultural and financial landscape, continue to evolve on the issue?
Join Reprocare and The Learning Co-operative for an in-depth discussion of imperialism and the Irish abortion issue with Naomi Connor, Co-Convenor of "Alliance for Choice," Anna Christina Carnegie of "Abortion Rights Campaign," and Mairead Enright of the University of Birmingham Law School.
This event will be chaired by Zenab Ahmed of Reprocare and The Learning Co-op with a Q&A portion.
See you on Saturday, January 16th, at 6:30 PM BST! (1:30 PM EST)
