Jeremy Windsor and the Slava Topol Project - Establishing sustainable mountain rescue and medical programs for Lenin Peak in Kyrgyzstan.
Alpine Club Peak District Winter Lecture
Date: Thursday 11th December 2025
Time: 19:00 for a 19:30 start
Location: Outside shop cafe, Hathersage.
Welcome to the next Alpine Club Peak District winter lecture of the season.
In 2025 a medical team from the UK headed to Kyrgyzstan and set up a series of medical posts on Lenin Peak. Billed as the world’s “easiest” 7000m peak, the mountain attracts hundreds of visitors to its slopes each year.
Unfortunately many are not prepared for what they eventually encounter. Join us for an evening of medicine in the mountains - find out what goes wrong and what you can do to avoid a similar fate!
Our Winter Lecture Series is open to everyone—both Alpine Club members and non-members. Whether you're passionate about daring expeditions, fascinated by gripping climbing stories, keen to explore the fundamentals of alpine climbing, or simply eager for an evening of adventure, we warmly invite you to join us.
This year, tickets will be managed via Eventbrite. Tickets are £5 for non-members, while members can secure their free tickets using a discount code that is available on the AC website members area, from the club what's app group or club emails.
