Bridging the gap from school to university
Since 2016 we have regularly delivered research skills sessions to sixth form students in a local school studying towards their Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and Academic Liaison Librarians have developed this offer further to provide similar sessions to other schools in the area. The Special Collections Team also facilitated workshops for GCSE students to encourage independent research whilst giving them a taste of working with primary sources in a university setting.

11.55-12.10 - Jen Earl, Academic Support Librarian, University of Salford
This presentation will show some of the activities of the Day of the Dead event in 2017, which allowed for open and honest discussions around the beliefs, customs, practices and awareness of death and dying and also how working closely with a wide range of students, staff and community groups has led to winning funding for a bigger event in 2018.
