About this event
I have teamed up with ACAI Outdoorwear to offer a women's only hike in the beautiful Lake District National Park. This hike takes us to the summit of one of the smaller Wainwrights with incredible views over Ullswater. Hallen Fell has a huge obelisk at its summit, offering the perfect spot to grab those fell-bagging photos! We also have the option to cool off afterwards with a dip in the lake.
ACAI are offering a special discount code* to all participants so you can treat yourself to something from their incredible range of women's outdoor wear! As well as a goody bag for all ladies who attend.
*Polite notice: please only book your ticket if you can definitely make it on the day as there is limited availability. Discount codes and goody bags will be given out upon arrival at the meeting place.
Distance: 6km/3.75 miles
Ascent: 230m/775ft
Level of difficulty: Easy/Moderate/Challenging -A short but steep incline. A good level of fitness is required to tackle this one.
Who will be your guide?
I’m Emily (AKA @trigsandteeth on Instagram!) and I’m a Hill and Moorland Leader based in Glossop at the edge of the Dark Peak. I’ve always been outdoorsy since being a young girl but hiking became a real obsession in 2019 when I started to go solo. I aim to inspire other women to learn the many benefits of exploring in the outdoors and I’m passionate about sharing my love for adventure with you!
Transport:
We'll be meeting at St Peter's Church - Martindale, 4 Eamont Terrace, Penrith CA10 2NF. There is a small free car park facing the church (Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Cz6pEtkJymxRmzQx5 )
We will meet at 9.15, ready to set off at 9.30am.
What to bring:
- Hiking boots or trail shoes with ankle support
- Snacks/lunch
- Rucksack
- Water (at least 1L)
- Waterproofs and warm layers
- Hat and gloves
- Sun hat/sun cream
- Walking Poles (optional)
- A small first aid kit with any personal medication
- Swimming gear (optional)
Terrain:
Mostly trails and footpaths, some uneven and steep terrain.
Toilets:
There are no public toilets at the car park or along the way on the walk so we may have to embrace the good old ‘wild wees’ whilst we’re out! There are plenty of little hidden spots for us to squat in private!
Safety:
The whole point of the walk is to be an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone so we will keep to a steady pace to suit the group. It's about taking in the views, learning about the history and geology of the area and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety and with all outdoor activities, there can be risks involved. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on this walk, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns. Please inform me of any medical conditions prior to the walk.
I am a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader and I am level 3 Outdoor First Aid trained so I will be on hand in case of an emergency.
Dogs:
Dogs are welcome to come along, but they will have to be on a lead for parts of the walk.
Refund Policy:
This is a free walk but spaces are extremely limited and there will be a waiting list. If you can no longer attend, please give as much notice as possible to give us the opportunity to fill your place.
And FINALLY:
This walk will be going ahead whatever the weather, unless I deem the conditions dangerous so be ready to embrace the good old British weather! If I do have to cancel the walk for safety reasons, I will suggest one more date for the walk to be rearranged.
