The Accelerated Leader Development (ALD) programme is a critical part of our ambition to develop and support all our leaders and the 20,000+ colleagues we collectively serve. Our commitment to you is to inspire and equip all our leaders to inclusively engage, involve and coach all our people to deliver exceptional services to our patients and communities.

This is more than a traditional leadership programme – collaborating with leaders, it provides opportunities to learn in ways that will appeal to a range of learning styles and preferences. For example, the 2-day in person event is designed to energise, educate and engage with people who you may not normally work alongside.

Who is it for?

The ALD programme is for all leaders from all professions and services. Whether you’re new to leadership, work on the front line, or in a highly specialised professional role this development is intended for you. The plan is for our leaders and managers in all roles attend and learn side-by-side from and with each other. By leader we mean all those who have responsibility for delivering and improving services; this includes team leaders, medical, clinical, professional services and supervisors of front-line colleagues.

What will it provide?

Many of you will already be shaping and improving your services by using the High Performing Team Framework and tools. The ALD programme will take this a step further and introduce you to the NCA Virtual Campus which all our leaders will be able to use to help them to engage their people to collectively deliver high quality and reliable services that meet the needs of their patients, service users, and customers. We will be providing resources for you to take back and share so that all our colleagues know that we are taking their wellbeing and development just as seriously as we that of our leaders.

Contributing to your professional development

We are building on the great habits many of our colleagues are subject through their professional validation/revalidation processes and are introducing an NCA Leader Validation framework. You will learn more about this on the 2-day event, which is accredited and provides you with core and mandatory evidence of leader continuous professional development. At the end of the 2 days we will be celebrating with our leaders by committing to and sharing our pledge to the colleagues we serve in our roles as leaders and managers.
