This session will:

Explain the rationale behind scaffolding and how it works to support and accelerate reading comprehension.

Provide practical ideas and strategies you can use whole class or as a group intervention.

Develop subject knowledge behind reading comprehension including clarifying and advanced comprehension.

Explore some of the causes of difficulties in reading comprehension and how to overcome them.

Claire McKie is an experienced teacher, trainer and education SEND consultant in both primary and secondary schools. She is Founder of the DfE (England) and DoE (W Australia) approved the Power Phonics English Programme. As an advisor she has led EEF funded National Reading RCT Efficacy Research and is still waiting for her Blue Peter Badge to arrive!
