Who is speaking?

Demi Smoloktou - Sustainability & Climate Action Lead at KFC (UK & Ireland)

- Demi Smoloktou is a sustainability professional with expertise in responsible sourcing and trade, sustainability and climate action, and human rights in operations and supply chains. She is passionate about sustainability transformation and innovation, focusing on connecting sustainability to financial performance and brand impact whilst maximising business value through purpose driven strategies. She is also a PhD candidate at the University of Liverpool in the UK. She focuses on modern slavery in supply chains, global production networks, and global value chains, providing analyses on modern working practices and human rights. Her research addresses anti-slavery legislation and implementation, as well as different forms of contemporary forced labour as a management practice.

Ian Caveney - Head of Tech for Good at BT

- Ian leads BT’s strategy for developing ‘break-through’ tech that can help in the fight against the climate crisis and provide support to ‘vulnerable’ people. This includes looking at how converged networks can be an enabler to support Net Zero targets, and how AI and connected devices can support health and wellbeing. Ian joined BT from EE in April 2016 where he was responsible for their Corporate Social Responsibility strategy and the award-winning EE Techy Tea Parties programme. Prior to this, Ian held several successful roles in brand strategy and advertising, which included award-winning work for EE, T-Mobile and Canon.

Frankie Howland - Senior Associate, Sustainability & Climate Change at PwC

- Frankie is a consultant in PwC UK’s Sustainability and Climate Change team. Her work focuses on the intersection between innovation and sustainability, working with clients across a number of sectors to harness emerging tech to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing people and our planet.
