Acceptance and Commitment Therapy - One Day Introductory Workshop

Join us for a one-day introductory workshop on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This event is designed for individuals interested in learning about ACT and its practical applications.

Date: Wednesday 5th June 2024

Time: 9.30am to 4.30pm

Location: South Belfast Quaker Meeting House, 22 Marlborough Park N, Belfast BT9 6HJ

Cost: £120 - 'Early Bird' discount of £20 applied to registration fee until Friday 29th March 2024


During this workshop, you will have the opportunity to explore the core principles of ACT and gain insight into how it can be used to enhance psychological flexibility and well-being.


The workshop will be delivered by Dr Ross White (Clinical Psycholgist and Director of Strive2Thrive). Ross has over 15 years experience of using ACT in his clinical practice. He is recognised as a peer-reviewed trainer of ACT by the Association of Contextual Behavioural Science (ACBS) and provides expert supervision in ACT to a range of applied psychology practitioners. Ross will guide you through various exercises and discussions, allowing you to apply ACT techniques in a supportive and interactive environment.


The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Understanding pyschological flexibility and the role it plays in functioning and wellbeing.
  • An exploration of the three core aspects of the ACT model: Being Present, Being Open and Doing What Matters.
  • Conducting an ACT assessment
  • Case conceptualization from an ACT perspective.


Whether you are a mental health professional, educational psychologist, occupational psychologist, or sports and exercise psychologist, this workshop will provide you with a comprehensive introduction to this evidence-based therapy approach. Tea, coffee and water will be provided along with biscuits. Lunch will not be provided, but attendees will be able to purchase sandwiches and other options from a variety of locations on the Lisburn Road within a few minutes walk(including M&S Foodhall, BaoBun, Camille, Yo Burger and Cafe Fish).


Please note that there are a small number of parking spaces available at the venue but early arrival is recommended to try to secure a parking space near the venue if required.
