Access to Health and Mental Health Care for Refugee and Asylum Seeking Wome...
Wed 1 June 2016, 10:00 – 12:30 BST
Ensuring Health Care and Mental Health Care services are accessible and equally beneficial to refugee and asylum seeking (RAS) women requires an informed strategy. Additional consideration needs to be taken of factors influencing the lives of RAS women. Furthermore, an outright effort is required to understand the existing needs of RAS women and cater for them, to enhance the quality of the services we provide, and ensure equity and justice.
But this raises many questions. Are our mainstream services providing adequate health and mental health care to RAS women? Should community organisations shoulder the responsibility? How do we engage mainstream and community groups to ensure the health and mental health needs of RAS women are met.
What is it about? The aim of this event is to create engagement and dialogue between mainstream health and mental health service providers and RAS community groups. Speakers and participants will be able to share ideas and best practices within this field. The event will also provide an opportunity to network and discuss ways of working together.
Who is it for? This event will be of particular interest to:
