Event Information
Description
Access to profitable woodland - make woodlands pay their way
- Do you manage woods with difficult access?
- Do you want to know how to access 'Roads' grants?
- Do you want to increase your expertise in forest road building?
...Then this day is for you!
This free, whole-day workshop for woodland managers will explain how to make the most of the Woodfuel Woodland Improvement Grant (Woodfuel WIG) for improving woodland access; how to make an application, and how to build roads to make the most of your investment.
During the day you will learn how the grant operates, understand its technical requirements and be able to compile a Woodland Improvement Grant calculator. You will come away fully equipped to make a successful application, and improve the profitability of your inaccessible compartments with high quality, grant-aided roads and tracks.
You will be able to quiz the Woodfuel WIG administrator, our consultant engineer and Forestry Commission representatives about all aspects of forest roads and grant aid. And you will come away with a valuable resource pack containing all of the information you need to help to improve your woodland’s infrastructure and capital value.
Topics will include:
- The Woodfuel WIG application process
- How to build forest roads and tracks
- Compliance with Construction, Design and Management regulations
- Management Plan standards for Forestry Commission grant aid
It will be a packed day – but it’s not all theory; after a complimentary lunch there will be an opportunity to discuss the range of real-life projects already funded by the Woodfuel WIG.
