Introduces accessible design checkpoints in WCAG 2.1 AA and enables designers to know how to apply them creatively in their design work.

Overview

A practical workshop where we spend time grappling with what to do in situations where it’s most challenging to achieve the design aesthetic you want and make websites and mobile apps accessible – how to apply checkpoints to ensure they don’t cause ‘lowest common denominator’ design.

You will learn how to

Do inclusive design in a best-practice way, including:

  • Understanding the range of people that benefit from accessible design
  • An overview of the international standards: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines WCAG 2.1
  • A presentation and discussion of the key challenges of accessible UX / UI design
  • In depth review of the WCAG 2.1 checkpoints that impact design including practical accessibility critique and discussion of designs
  • How to apply accessibility requirements creatively in design work to retain a great customer experience
  • Use of accessibility tools and checklist to test your own work
