We warmly invite you to attend our free Teachmeet event to share new ideas for development. This informal gathering is for librarians and library staff who are curious about what the future may hold. We require participants who are prepared to: think creatively, discuss enthusiastically and leave inspired.
This event is sponsored by the CILIP Information Literacy Group.
What is the theme?
The event will be focused towards teaching more successfully. Information Literacy good practice can be utilised to identify free tools / apps, search for software available, digitising and requesting resources, highlighting support available. We aim to develop staff information literacy skills and believe library and information professionals should make a significant contribution to increasing digital inclusion and participation. This inclusion is dependent upon these professionals having the capabilities and knowledge to promote inclusivity and accessibility. Anyone can share great ideas they've used in their library, ask important questions or simply sign up to take part in learning conversations. The outcome will be a greater understanding of accessibility, focusing on the user experience.
How does it work?
We would like attendees to consider delivering a presentation, of up to 10 minutes maximum, on an innovative topic in line with the theme. The number of speakers will be limited so please get your application in early if you would like to do this. We also want an audience who are happy to discuss, share ideas and develop learning opportunities.
When is it?
2pm – 4.30pm on Wednesday 14th December 2016. Refreshments will be served throughout the event. Please notify us of any dietary needs.
Where is it?
Staffordshire University's new Beacon Building is on College Road, Stoke-on-Trent. It takes a mere 5 minutes to get from the Stoke train station to this room! As our university has a green travel policy, we recommend you use public transport to visit us. There is parking at the train station. Please let us know if you have any specific access requirements.
Can I just come along and not present?
Of course! It wouldn't work without some enthusiastic audience members, so feel free to come along but you will be asked to join in discussions and share your ideas and experiences. Just remember to book your place as numbers are limited.
